Antique boaters sought for show

LONG LAKE-Long Lake will be the site of the second Antique and Classic Boat Show Sunday, July 17 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Long Lake Waterfront, part of Long Lake's Waterfront Weekend, July 15 to 17.

Owners are invited to showcase their boats either on water or on land. If you're interested, call 518-624-3077 for an application. In addition to motorized boats, several historical Adirondack guideboats, wooden canoes and other water craft will be on display.

There will be live demonstrations and vendors on the beach. Caleb Davis of Tremolo Paddles will be on site refurbishing Long Lake's American Legion's war canoe. Marty Friedman has invited the Classic Preservation Coalition to be on site at The Knoshery, located at the Long Lake Boat Tours.

The Boat Show festivities kick off at noon on Sunday and culminate with a Boat Parade "at speed" at 4 p.m., followed by a reception and award ceremony for Spectator's Choice. Stop by the registration tent to vote for your favorite.

The Long Lake Water Front Weekend kicks of Friday, July 15 with the Cool Crazy Boat Regatta and Float Night featuring the Cardboard Box Races and Adk DJ Glen LaBlanc. Saturday is the Long Lake Artisan's Cooperative "Art on the Water" Exhibition. Sunday is the Wooden Boat Show. The Friends of the Long Lake Library will be hosting the Art and Photo Show at the Long Lake Town Hall.
