A young man from Tupper Lake suffered minor injuries following a scary car accident earlier this week.
The one-car motor vehicle accident occurred at about 7:09 p.m. Wednesday on state Route 3/30 in the town of Harrietstown, just outside Tupper Lake.
Tupper Lake-based state police say 19-year-old Matthew F. Dickey of Tupper Lake was driving westbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle. But in the process, that vehicle also tried passing a third vehicle.
Troopers say Dickey reacted and lost control, causing the car to spin around and enter a ditch, where the vehicle rolled over and struck a utility pole.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage as a result of the accident.
Dickey was treated and released at the scene for abrasions on his arms by personnel from the Tupper Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Dickey was ticketed for an unsafe tire. Troopers note that other drivers were not ticketed because they had left the scene of the accident.
