RUTLAND, Vt. - Rutland-based Central Vermont Public Service received an unsolicited acquisition offer from Quebec-based GazMetro June 23, according to CVPS spokesman Steve Costello.
Costello said CVPS' board of directors will review the offer "based on our fiduciary responsibilities and contractual commitments to Fortis Inc."
Canadian-based Fortis acquired CVPS only recently. CVPS.
"This offer requires us to convene our board of directors to evaluate the proposal in depth as soon as possible," CVPS President Larry Reilly said in a news statement June 23. "Until the board of directors has an opportunity to examine the offer, we are precluded from making any further comment."
