Essex waiting for FEMA representatives

ESSEX-While a federal disaster has been declared by President Barrack Obama, the town of Essex has yet to have their chance to show federal inspectors the damage here.

"The inspectors from FEMAwere not able to get to Essex the last time that they were in the county, but they have said that they will be here to view that damage at some point," Essex supervisor Sharon Boisen said at the June 9 regular board meeting.

"We have spots that we have not even been able to look at yet," zoning officer David Lansing said.

Last month, Congressman Bill Owens toured the Lake Champlain waterfront with members of the Essex County Department of Emergency Services and board chairman Randy Douglas, viewing damage in Moriah, Westport and Essex, among other towns. He also visited Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake, as well as parts of Clinton County.
