Geneseo announces Dean's List

GENESEO -The State University of New York at Geneseo has announced its Dean's List for the spring semester 2011. To be on the list, a student must have achieved a 3.5 grade point average while taking at least 12 credit hours.

Locals named to the Dean's list include Evelyn Cilley and Sarah Mader from Saranac Lake.

Hoey earns High Point Honors

OSWEGO - Alexandra Hoey of AuSable Forks has been named to the Dean's List at High Point University, High Point, North Carolina, for the spring 2011 semester. Dean's list students are those who have attained a 3.5 GPA for the previous semester based on a 4.0 scale. Alexandra is the daughter of Kevin and Sandra Hoey and a 2010 graduate of AuSable Valley Central School.

Whittemore earns Oswego honor

OSWEGO-Cassie E. Whittemore, of Lewis, was honored at SUNY Oswego's recent honors convocation. She received the Outstanding Marketing Senior Award.

Whittemore is a senior, studying marketing at Oswego. She is the daughter of Kenneth and Christina Whittemore of Lewis. She was a member of Del Sarte Dance Club, School of Business Professor Search Committee and Oswego admissions representative. Her future plan is to pursue a career in marketing and event management in Florida.

The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women's honor society. The audience included faculty, staff, students and students' family members. Nearly 110 Oswego students received awards at the ceremony.

Scollin graduates from UNH

DURHAM, N.H. -Matthew Scollin, of Saranac Lake graduated from the University of New Hampshire during the Commencement Ceremony held on Saturday, May 21, at the Durham, NH campus. He earned a BA degree in Political Science.

Burdeau graduates

CAZENOVIA -At Cazenovia College's 186th Commencement Ceremony, held on Saturday, May 14, Melanie A. Burdeau, of Saranac Lake, N.Y., received a bachelor of fine arts degree in visual communications with a minor in art history.
