Law enforcement officials in Lake Placid say a foreign man led police on a brief chase before being apprehended on drunken driving charges.
Lake Placid Village Police arrested 48-year-old Manuel Rojas of Huixquilucan, Mexico at 1:54 a.m. Sunday.
Officers on patrol attempted to stop Rojas after he committed several vehicle and traffic offenses. But instead of pulling over, the man led police on what's been described as a "brief vehicle pursuit."
Police eventually stopped Rojas on Dunn Way and discovered that he was driving drunk.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to obey a police officer, failure to signal, and improper use of high beams.
Rojas was processed at the police station, arraigned in village court, and released after posting $750 cash bail. He's scheduled to reappear at a later date.
