Thursday nights to bustle again this summer in North Creek

NORTHCREEK-The streets of North Creek took the form of a street bazaar last summer as visitors and residents were welcomed with an art walk, car cruise, farmer's market and more.

Thursday nights will be a host of activity again this summer as the North Creek Business Alliance art walks returned May 19. The walks began last summer as series of free artists receptions, which took place within participating businesses throughout North Creek

"The idea was a complete whim that turned into a festive opportunity for regional artists to share their work," said Michelle San Antonio, alliance member. "It's another creative event that the business community is embracing to encourage more foot traffic down the streets and through their doors."

San Antonio anticipates that this summer's walks will draw crowds of several hundred.

The walks last from 5 to 7 p.m. every third Thursday from May to September and locations are marked with red balloons.

The event is free of charge, family friendly and participating locations will have refreshments available as well as occasional live music, according to San Antonio.

June 16 will be another big day, with the opening of the Farmers Market, the Car Cruise, and another Art Walk. In conjunction with the art walks, North Creek will be buzzing with the return of the annual farmer's market as well as the second annual cruise nights.

"The art walk compliments the farmer's market and the car cruise event very well," said San Antonio. "They all encourage folks to visit North Creek and gives them options of things to do that are all in the same time period."

The North Creek Farmer's Market will open June 16 and run from 3 to 6 p.m. at the train station pavilion by the river and continue every Thursday through Oct. 6. (I believe the Car Cruise starts the same day, but you should contact Scott at Camp Garuda or Laurie at Marsha's). I haven't heard of other Thursday night events.

Cruise nights, organized by local car enthusiasts Scott Willoughby of Camp Garuda Art & Antiques and Lori Smith of Marsh's Restaurant in North Creek will also begin in June.

Cruise Nights took shape last year encourage cars and drivers from all over the region as well as spectators to visit North Creek for an evening of 'cruising'.

"I think the Cruise Nights will serve to tie the Thursday nights together," said Willoughby. "All the different events will attract people with varying interests into North Creek."
