A local man made things worse for himself earlier this week when he kicked out the rear window of a police cruiser after being taken into custody on a lesser charge.
Saranac Lake Village Police arrested 43-year-old Darryl L. Bankston of Saranac Lake at 3:17 a.m. Sunday.
According to reports, he was initially charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly acting in a violent manner and attempting to fight with another group of individuals.
Upon his arrest, Bankston was placed on the rear seat of a village police car. Then, Bankston netted a felony charge when he allegedly kicked out the window, damaging village property in the process.
He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a class-E felony.
Bankston was processed at the police station, ticketed, and released. He appeared in village court on Monday and may return again at a later date.
