LONG LAKE - The Long Lake American Legion Post 650 hosted the Hamilton County Memorial Day Parade on May 30 with more than 20 floats and walking units. Members of the Long Lake American Legion Post 650 and Indian Lake American Legion Parker Benton Post 1392 led the parade with Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward and the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors following.
Next came the seven floats that were part of the Town of Long Lake-sponsored float contest. The floats were put together by various Hamilton county organizations and businesses including the Indian Lake Junior Girl Scouts, Long Lake Lion's Club, Long Lake Central School Electric Car, Long Lake Gals' Kazoo Band, The Cellar Restaurant and Pub, Smith Sewage, and the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, which featured four cast members of the upcoming "Nunsense" production in full nun habits.
Rounding out the parade were the Indian Lake flag team and marching band, the Long Lake Central School Marching band, the Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake Fire Departments, the Long Lake Rescue Squad and the Long Lake Fire department.
The parade began at the Long Lake Town Hall and traveled through the intersection of Routes 28N and 30 and ended at the Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area, where a ceremony was led by the commander of the Long Lake Legion Post, Tim Touchette. Assemblywoman Sayward was the guest speaker.
