Cats top Moriah; Sentinels beaten

Schroon Lake edged Moriah, 49-46, in non-league boys basketball play Jan. 22.

The battle was close throughout, with the teams trading the lead. The final score was the largest lead in the contest.

Jesse Shaughnessy scored 15 points and Ian Williams 12, 10 of them clutch free throws, for the Wildcats.

Zack DeSimone scored 15 points, Isaac Aponte 11 and Nick Gilbo 10 for Moriah.

Plattsburgh 67,

Ticonderoga 28

Plattsburgh topped Ticonderoga, 67-28, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 19.

The Hornets exploded out of the gate, racing to a 33-6 lead in the first quarter. They led, 48-13, at the half.

Kyle LaPoint had 20 points and Ethan Votraw 10 for the winners.

Jesse LaRose had nine points for Ti.

AVCS 60,

Ticonderoga 40

AuSable Valley defeated Ticonderoga, 60-40, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 20.

Leading 32-21 at the half, AVCS opened the third period with a 15-7 run to secure the win.

Brody Douglass had 23 points and T.J. Burl 10 for the Patriots.

Lake Placid 44,

Crown Point 29

Crown Point dropped a 44-29 decision to Lake Placid in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 20.

Lake Placid trailed by a bucket in the final quarter before finishing the contest with an 18-6 spurt.

Will Gronlund had 17 points for the Bombers.

Crown Point was paced by Mike Gould with 13 points.
