McKenna says building partnerships between local governments and the private sector could be the saving grace the Adirondack North Country needs.
"The governor is mentioning now that we could see 10,000 to 15,000 jobs cuts - and in the Adirondacks we have a large percentage, over 30 percent, of public jobs," he said. "So we need to band together for the future. And this is giving us the momentum to do that."
Bauer from C & S Companies said making a donation to the winter games effort was a no-brainer for his business.
"The town of North Elba has always been a good client of our and we like to support the communities we work in," he said. "This is a great opportunity to do just that."
The Empire State Winter Games will be held from Feb. 25 to Feb. 27 at venues throughout the Tri-Lakes region.
