Ellenburg man charged with grand larceny, forgery

Police in Saranac Lake have charged a Clinton County man with multiple felonies, including grand larceny.

Saranac Lake Village Police arrested 42-year-old David R. Morin of Ellenburg at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, Morin was taken into custody on an arrest warrant issued by Saranac Lake Village Court. Morin allegedly stole a check from his employer and forged his boss's signature.

Additionally, it's alleged that Morin cashed multiple checks that were meant to pay his employer for services rendered. Officers say those checks amounted to over $1,000.

Morin was ultimately charged with one count each of the following: second-degree forgery, a class-D felony; second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a class-D felony; and fourth-degree grand larceny, a class-E felony.

He was also charged with two counts petit larceny.

Morin was arraigned in Harrietstown town court before Justice Howard Riley and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
