On Jan. 10, the school board is considering whether to put up another bus lease proposition before the voters this year. Last year, school district residents voted to approve leasing three buses rather than purchasing new ones.

Citizens WCS budget group meets at town hall

The Warrensburg Central School Citizens Advisory Committee will holding its first-ever meeting outside the school to prompt public involvement in planning the school's finances for the 2011-12 school year. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Warrensburg Town Hall. All are invited.

Committee members said they welcome input and direction on the budget before it goes to public vote this Spring. The focus of this Jan. 26 meeting will be the expenses related to school buildings and grounds.

Snowmobiles, stay out of town cemeteries

Councilman John Alexander has asked that snowmobilers stay out of the town's cemeteries, due not only the damage that can occur to the memorials, but the additional risks that sledders are likely to incur.

Principal to take time off, intern to substitute

Warrensburg Elementary School Principal Amy Langworthy will be taking maternity leave from Feb. 29 to May 31, and in her absence, a teacher will be fulfilling her duties temporarily. The WCS school board voted Jan. 10 to place WCS fourth grade teacher Keith LaLone in the interim position. LaLone is studying to be certified as a school administrator and the temporary post will serve as an internship toward that goal.

Also noted at the Jan. 10 board meeting were the pending retirements, effective this June 30, of WCS faculty members Barbara Grant, Glenda Howland and Elaine Cowin.

Town Board sets penalties, okays contract

On Jan. 12, the Warrensburg Town Board adopted a resolution to impose a penalty of 10 percent on sewer bills paid after the 15th of the month when they are due. Sewer bills are due in February May and August. A water bill penalty was adopted as well - one that will impose a 10 percent late fee on water bill payments that are tardy. The water bills are sent out in each fall and are due by Oct. 1.
