Moriah man guilty

A Moriah man has been found guilty of assaulting another man in December 2009.

An Essex County jury has found Ricky Trombley guilty of second-degree assault and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

While he was convicted on the top assault charge, Trombley was cleared of charges of drunken driving and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The 38-year-old now faces a minimum determinate sentence of five years in prison and a maximum of seven years when he returns to court for sentencing March 10.

Trombley remains free on $5,000 bond pending his sentencing when prosecutors plan to push for the full seven-year sentence.

At the time of his arrest, state police said Trombley attacked a man in North Elba and then fled the area.

With his latest conviction, Trombley will now be deemed a second-violent-felony offender based on his previous convictions.

According to the Department of Correctional Services website, Trombley served about three years in prison after a burglary and assault in the late 1990s.

The roads were reportedly blown over with snow, and Larimore lost control of the vehicle when he approached a bend in the road, dispatch said.
