JCS employee charged with felony

JOHNSBURG - Brian Davis, 61, head mechanic at Johnsburg Central School (JCS) was arrested and arraigned last week on one felony count of falsifying business records in the first degree and one misdemeanor count of petit larceny.

Warren County Sheriff Investigators Russ Lail and John Maday questioned Davis last Tuesday afternoon at JCS regarding a personal car alternator that he had rebuilt and then billed the costs to a school account. Davis then attempted to conceal his crime by making a false entry on an inventory sheet that the generator was installed on a school bus.

An antique car enthusiast, Davis billed the cost of a $228 rebuild to a Model T Ford car alternator to a JCS account.

The alleged theft was detected in an audit, where the bill was called into question because it purchased a part for a vehicle that is not owned by the school district.

Davis was arraigned in Johnsburg Town Court and released on his own recognizance after signing a Parker admonishment. He is due to return to Johnsburg Town Court Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. His alleged crime is punishable by up to four years in state prison.
