ELIZABETHTOWN - The Westport girls varsity basketball team rallied from a two-point deficit early in the fourth quarter thanks to the shooting of Willa McKinley and rebounding of Nancy Armitage to defeat Elizabethtown-Lewis, 40-37, Jan. 11.
McKinley scored five of her team-high 15 points in the final eight minutes, while Armitage had all three of her points and five of her 12 rebounds in the quarter.
Allison Sherman also had a strong game for the Lady Eagles, combining 12 points with 10 rebounds. McKinley added six rebounds and four assists, while Christina Sherman scored eight points to go with three assists and three steals.
For the Lady Lions, Shonna Brooks led all scorers with 19 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots. Kearsten Ashline added 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Kylee Cassavaugh had three assists and Jennifer McGinn had two steals.
Chazy 36, Keene 27
The Lady Eagles held the Lady Beavers scoreless in the first quarter and held on for a victory Jan. 11.
Olivia Seymour led all scorers with 17 points while pulling down 12 rebounds in the game. Megan Reynolds added 11 points.
Anna Kowanko led the Beavers with 10 points, while Emma Gothner added five points, Saide Holbrook scored four points, Olivia Jaques and Megan Hall scored three points and Alex Dumas scored two points.
AVCS 49, PHS 30
The Lady Patriots opened the game on an 11-4 run and never looked back in beating the Lady Hornets Jan. 11.
Alexis Coolidge led all scorers in the game, collecting 29 points, with Alexis Facteau adding six points and 18 rebounds, while Megan Colby, Alex Casey and Meghan Strong each scored three points and Savannah Douglas scored two.
Emily Manchester paced the Hornets with eight points in the game, with seven points from Olivia Carlsson, five points from Marle Curle and Charisse Abellard scoring four points.
