Trio set to perform in E-town

ELIZABETHTOWN - Trio Montecino, comprised of Paulina Zamora, piano, Pablo Mahave-Veglia, cello, and David Shea, clarinet perform works for Piano By Nature Saturday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. in the Hand House Parlor in Elizabethtown.

Unique among chamber music ensembles,Tr o Montecino is exclusively dedicated to the repertoire for clarinet, piano and cello. Their programs mix the classic trios by Beethoven, Brahms and Bruch with newer works by such masters as Alfonso Montecino, Alfred Prinz and Roberto Sierra.

The members of Tr o Montecino first met and played together while students at the Indiana University School of Music. By 2002 they created the trio and named it after Alfonso Montecino, the noted Chilean composer, pianist and former IU professor that mentored them as students. In the first few years since their inception they have appeared nationally and internationally as well as in recordings available on the Eroica label.

In addition, The Deer's Head Restaurant in Elizabethtown will be serving a "Carribean Night" Buffet Saturday, Jan. 29 and invites all Piano by Nature concertgoers to join them for their special "south-of-the-border" pre-concert dinner.

This program is made possible, in part, with a Developing Community Arts Grant with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program administered locally by the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks.
