A former Saranac Lake resident has been found guilty of assault following a December 2009 incident in the town of North Elba.
38-year-old Ricky Trombley of Moriah was found guilty of second-degree assault and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle following a four-day trial.
According to Essex County District Attorney Kristy Sprague, jurors deliberated for about four hours before returning with a guilty verdict last Thursday.
In December 2009, Trombley attacked another man in North Elba. The assault left the victim with a permanent scar on his face.
Trombley fled the scene following the attack and was later found parked in his vehicle on state Route 86. He was also charged with felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, but those charges were dropped.
Trombley will now be classified as a second-violent felony offender due to a previous conviction for assault and burglary. He faces up to seven years in prison at his March 10 sentencing.
