Local contractor envisions new community center

"It's the beginning that's always the tough part," he said, gesturing toward the old building which has boarded-up entrances and peeling paint. "We need volunteers yesterday!"

There's a lot of work to be done, however, as the structure, owned by his sister Laureen Colbert, is uninsulated, old, and deteriorating.

Corlew gazed at the barn, which needs siding, interior walls, electrical work and plumbing, for starters.

"If we could get some volunteers, we could show people we mean business," he said noting those seeking to get involved can reach him at 260-2785. "I'd like to see this barn turned into something people enjoy - it would really help the community."
