JCS Employee charged with falsifying business records

JOHNSBURG - Brian Davis, head mechanic at Johnsburg Central School (JCS) was arrested and arraigned today on one felony count of falsifying business records in the first degree and one misdemeanor count of petit larceny.

Warren County Sheriff Investigators Russ Lail and John Maday questioned Davis on Tuesday afternoon at JCS regarding a personal car generator that he had rebuilt and then billed the costs to a school account. Davis then attempted to conceal his crime by making a false entry on an inventory sheet that the generator was installed on a school bus.

The 61-year-old man has been working at JCS for four and a half years, according to Mike Markwica, JCS superintendent.

"This is obviously a personnel issue and we are currently working with our attorney to check out what options we have at this point," Markwica said.

Davis was arraigned in Johnsburg Town Court and released on his own recognizance after signing a Parker admonishment. He is due to return to Johnsburg Town Court on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
