Elks host annual memorial service

TICONDEROGA - Ticonderoga Elks Lodge #1494 recently observed its annual Elks Sunday Memorial Service, which honors members who have passed during the lodge year.

The 2010 service honored George Saunders Jr., Robert W. Dedrick, Stephen Moore, Melvin Woods and John F. Rivers.

Performing the ceremony were officers and appointees, E.R. Robin Nowc, Leading Knight Dean Frasier, Lecturing Knight Phil Graf, Loyal Knight Marge Hurlburt, Chaplin Sandy Hurlbert, Esquire Penny Carr and Secretary Stella Kolysko.

Musical accompaniment was provided by St. Mary's Folk Choir. Altar servers were Ticonderoga students Paige and Garrison Hughes.

The toast was recited by District Deputy Raymond Scott. Peggy Lamb served as photographer. A buffet luncheon was produced by Marge Scott and helpers.

The guest speaker was Chief Master Sgt. Brad Howe, who spoke about ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

The yearly service is open to the public and especially for the families and friends of the departed members.
