Fire destroys log home in Tupper Lake

A log home was destroyed by fire near the Junction in Tupper Lake yesterday morning.

The home at 8 Mitchell Lane, built and owned by Peter Bushie, became engulfed in flames sometime after 8 a.m. Thursday, according to officials with the Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Bushie was not at home when the fire started.

The fire was brought under control by about noon. Firefighters used about 100,000 gallons of water battling the blaze.

Assistance was also received from the Tupper Lake Highway Department. Volunteers returned to their respective stations by approximately 3:30 p.m.
