Conservancy jobs

Two positions for Stewardship Assistant are now open at the Lake George Land Conservancy, and the environmental group is accepting applications for the seasonal posts. The positions run from the end of May for 12 weeks. Applications are due by March 18.

The positions include maintenance of woodland preserves, erosion control work, removal of invasive plants, plus trail clearing and marking. Duties also include leading public hikes and outings, documenting field work, conducting volunteer field days, as well as the routine maintenance of tools and vehicles.

GPS skills and experience reading and understanding survey maps are also expected. Willingness to travel throughout the Lake George watershed and a valid driver's license are required. Experience with common software applications - Word, Excel, Web browsers - is also a prerequisite. Experience with GIS and design software preferred, and effective communication is expected.

Compensation is $10 per hour, and the positions are 37.5 hours per week. Some weekend work is required.
