TICONDEROGA - More than 200 people came out to enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures and participate in the second annual Winter Fest in Bicentennial Park Feb. 5.
Participants from all age groups and surrounding communities came out to attend the free event that was organized by Ticonderoga High School teacher Adrienne Weld in conjunction with the Montcalm Street Partnership, Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce, town of Ticonderoga, Kiwanis Club of Ticonderoga, Adirondack Trailriders, North Country Community College and Ticonderoga American Legion.
Families were able to try snowshoeing, ice skating, broomball, sledding and snowmobile rides.
Donated prizes such as a getaway weekend at the Best Western, Gore lift tickets, two savings bonds from Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union, a $50 gift card from Wal-Mart and $25 gift certificate to the Burleigh House Restaurant were raffled off along with several door prizes that were donated by Lowe's, McDonald's, Subway, Tony's Ticonderoga Sports, Treadway Service Center and Outfitters, Glens Falls National Bank, Community Bank, Jay's Sunoco, Key Club of Ticonderoga, Rite Aid, The Country Florist & Gifts, and Ticonderoga Teachers Union.
The Gore lift tickets were won by Terence Benedict. The Best Western get away weekend was won by Rod Budwick. Savings Bonds from Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union were won by Penny Stevens and Matt Monthread. The $50 gift card to Wal-Mart was won by Joan Defayette. The $25 gift certificate to Burleigh House Restaurant was won by Monty Benedict.
