Elizabethtown-Lewis school board bemoans state, federal cuts

"We still have to gather a lot of information," Else said. "We are currently negotiating with the teachers on what they see for the coming year, and BOCES is a big chunk of the budget and one where you have to allow for some elbow room."

"All the constituents need to write down their suggestions to tell us where they are willing to give and what they need in the budget," board member Karen Hooper said. "All the ideas that we get will start to add up eventually."

Else said the school would start with a pure roll-over budget and see where they needed to go from there.

"It's not a wonderful picture for us, but it is far better then some of my colleagues are looking at," she said.
