Wildcats post wins; Ti, Moriah victorious

Schroon Lake pulled away late to beat Chazy, 55-43, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Feb. 7.

Leading by five points late in the game, the Wildcats closed with a 21-14 run to secure the victory.

Anthony Vanderwalker scored 15 points, Jesse Shaughnessy 13 and Ian Williams 11 paced Schroon.

Chazy got 13 points from John Tregan.

NCCS 76, Moriah 51

Northeastern Clinton topped Moriah, 76-51, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 7.

NCCS led from the start and led, 43-26, at the half.

Steven Carder had 18 points for lead the Cougars. Logan Miller added 16 points, Ron Armstrong 12, Tom Bedard 11 and Jamie Davison 10 for the winners.

Moriah got 18 points from Nick Gilbo and 17 from Isaac Aponte.

Moriah 57, NAC 38

Moriah rolled past Northern Adirondack, 57-38, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 8.

The Vikings streaked to an 18-4 lead and never looked back.

Landon Cross scored 15 points to pace the winners. Tim Breeyear added 14 points and Nick Gilbo 10 for Moriah.

NACgot 12 points apiece from Colby Sayah and Jesse Smith.

Schroon 43, Willsboro 42

Schroon Lake edged Willsboro, 43-42, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Feb. 9.

The teams traded leads much of the game, but Schroon's 17-12 run to close the game proved to be the difference.

Anthony Vanderwalker scored 14 points and Ian Williams 10 for the 'Cats.

Willsboro got 14 points from Alex Hamel. Clay Sherman and Brandon Bertrand each had 12 for the Warriors.

Johnsburg 52,

Crown Point 46

Johnsburg edged Crown Point, 52-46, to remain undefeated in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Feb. 10.

Johnsburg, the Division III leader, held an advantage the entire game. Crown Point made it interesting with a19-11 run to close the contest.
