INDIANLAKE-With three minutes left in last week's contest against Minerva\Newcomb, Lady Orange guard, Carli Reynolds drove the lane and pulled up to land a jumper that tallied her 1,000th career point. Indian Lake/Long Lake went on to win the game 55-24.
Reynolds finished with a game high 25 points and 22 were the number of points she needed in order to reach the goal. She also grabbed six rebounds and tossed five assists.
Reynolds' coach and father John Reynolds reminded her at the beginning of the game that she was getting close, but even she didn't know how close. When the game stopped after her 22nd point, she was surprised.
"I didn't want to focus on it," she said. "I just wanted to win the game."
Reynolds' athleticism shines at Indian Lake Central School. She is a three sport athlete and has been refining her basketball skills in the off season with several camps and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball. She contributes much of her success on the court with the Orange to AAU.
Reynolds, a senior, hopes to continue her dedication to athletics and follow her basketball career to the college level next year. She plans to attend SUNY Potsdam to study childhood education.
