Vermont artist Robert Carsten, an award-winning pastel artist recognized for his portraits and landscapes, visited Lisa Murray's art classes at Springfield High School last week. Carsten, with pastels in hand, worked closely with students to demonstrate how to create beautiful portraits and colorful, lifelike skies. Over 100 students-all budding artists-watched and practiced the techniques of the artist. Pictured is Carsten at work and the artist working with SHS first-year student Kylie Freitas.
