Pastels displayed at arts center

BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE - The fine art pastels of Joann Quinlivan of Indian Lake will be shown under the title of "Pastel Extractions: Capturing Adirondack Beauty with Pastels" in the gallery of the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts through March 19.

Quinlivan has donated her original pastel entitled "Foxy Lady" to the Center for the purposes of helping to raise funds. The original pastel will be the subject of a silent auction that will run throughout the show. The winner will be announced at the close of the artist's reception, 6 to 7 p.m.

Quinlivan sums up the rationale for her devotion to the pastel medium when she says, "The ability to deliver color brilliance combined with the immediacy of the pastel medium allows me creative spontaneity - I get to deliver to the full spectrum of color that I see. To me, this is the gift of the artist to the viewer."

Quinlivan's work can be viewed on-line at www.joanquinlivanart.blogspot.com.
