Moriah tops Ti, Schroon wins

Moriah broke open a close game late and beat Ticonderoga, 58-45, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 27.

Leading by a bucket early in the final quarter, the Vikings closed the game with a 19-8 run to secure the win.

Nick Gilbo dominated inside for Moriah, scoring 20 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Landon Cross added 12 points for the winners.

Moriah held a 20-5 advantage from the free throw line.

Nick Mars had a double-double for Ti, scoring 15 points and hauling down 15 caroms. Matt Nolan added 10 points for the Sentinels.

Schroon 70, Westport 30

Schroon Lake routed Westport, 70-30, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 28.

Anthony Vanderwalker had 23 points and 11 rebounds to power the Wildcats, who had 10 players score.

Liam Davis had 11 points for Westport.

Wells 83, Crown Point 81

Wells edged Crown Point, 83-81, in overtime in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 28.

Jake Early tallied 32 points for Wells.

Nathan tabor had 36 points for the Panthers, who trailed by 10 points in the second half before rallying to force OT. Michael Dushane added 23 points for Crown Point.

Peru 51, Ticonderoga 40

Ticonderoga fell to Peru, 51-40, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 28.

Kayle Carter had 13 points and Will Flynn 10 for Peru.

Ticonderoga got 13 points from Nick Mars and 11 from Nate Lenhart.

Schroon 66, Indian/Long Lake 29

Schroon Lake crushed Indian/Long Lake, 66-29, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Jan. 29.

The Wildcats streaked to a 23-2 lead and coasted to the win.

Anthony Vanderwalker had 20 points and 11 rebounds to pace Schroon. Jesse Shaughnessy added 18 points and Uriah Harvey 11 for the 'Cats.

Matt Moore scored 13 points and Hank Evatt 12 for Indian/Long Lake.

ELCS 60, Crown Point 44

Crown Point dropped a 60-44 decision to Elizabethtown-Lewis in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Jan. 31.

Crown Point was paced by Mark St. Pierre's 17 points. Nathan Tabor added 14.
