LAKE PLACID - With leading scorer Megan Riley limited by foul trouble in the second half, Dani Balestrini stepped up as the Lake Placid Lady Blue Bombers defeated the Beekmantown Lady Eagles Jan. 28.
"Megan basically didn't play at all in the second half," Bombers coach Frank Johns said. "She sat out the whole third quarter with four fouls, and about 30 seconds after she got into the game, she was out."
Riley and Balestrini each scored 16 points, while Riley had 11 rebounds and six blocked shots, while Balestrini added six rebounds.
Mackenzie Kemmerer added nine points for the Bombers, while Ayla Thompson scored four points and Stephanie Murphy scored two points.
Shannon Ryan scored 18 points to lead the Eagles, while Emily Anderson scored seven points, Nicole Shepler scored six points, grace Kelly scored five points, Rylei Porter scored four points and Alissa Momot scored two points.
AVCS 85, Saranac Lake 28
The Lady Patriots outscored the Lady Red Storm by 30 points in the first quarter on their way to a Jan. 28 win.
Alexis Coolidge added to her league-leading point totals, scoring 30 points in the win, while Alexis Facteau combined 12 points and 13 rebounds, Meghan Strong scored nine points, Cammy Keyser and Savannah Douglas scored five points, Taylor Saltus and Carlee Hart scored three points, with Megan Colby and Alex Casey each scoring two points.
Shauna Manning scored 16 points to lead the Red Storm, while Jazzmyn Tuthill scored five points, Kailyn Walker-Law scored three points and Megan Kilroy scored two points along with Jackie Cummings.
Canton 50, Tupper Lake 29
Canton used a 26-13 second half to pace themselves past the Lady Lumberjacks Jan. 28.
Katie Stuart scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds for the Lumberjacks, while Heather Aldridge and Sam Sanford scored six points, Carley Aldridge had four points and five steals and Kristin Bickford had two points.
Crown Point 39, Keene 16
The Lady Panthers shutout the Lady Beavers in the opening quarter of a Jan. 28 win.
Anna Kowanko scored 10 points to lead the Beavers, while Olivia Jaques scored three points, Emma Gothner scored two points and Sadie Holbrook scored one point.
