Committee announces McHugh pond hockey tournee

The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee announced that it will hold a pond hockey tournament this year in memory of Casey McHugh, who passed away last year following a tragic accident.

McHugh was 19-years-old when he passed away and lived with his father Sean in Lake Clear and mother Kathy in Bloomingdale.

An avid hockey player and golfer, family members say McHugh touched many people's lives in a great way.

Carnival committee members say the McHugh Winter Carnival Pond Hockey Tournament will help make Casey's name live on forever.

The event will be held on the final day of Winter Carnival - Sunday, Feb. 13 - at the Bloomingdale Park. Entrants must be at least 14 years of age to play and are required to wear a helmet, mouth guard, and, of course, skates.

The tournee starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Teams must feature six players and registration costs $18, which amounts to just three dollars per person.

Females and males are encouraged to play.

Additionally, GaGa's Bard in Bloomingdale is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner at a cost of $5. All profits raised through the tournament and the dinner will go directly toward a scholarship fund in memory of Casey McHugh.
