Student blood drive makes Moriah proud

To the Times of Ti:

I returned a few hours ago from participating in the Red Cross blood drive at Moriah Central School (Dec. 8) in honor of their teacher, Mr. (Dayton) Dedrick, who just returned to work after an accident this fall which almost killed him.

I was amazed at how many of those eligible-to-donate students (most for the first time!) signed up and donated to honor this man. I am proud to say my tax dollars support educating these young men and women, and I am proud to live in the Moriah Central School district.

These students are our future; it’s nice to know they are caring individuals who got over their squeamishness to do this although their teacher is no longer in danger and doing well at this point.

In this day and age when most of the news you hear about high school students is negative, it is nice to know that our local school is doing their part to raise fine young adults. Kudos to all of you!
