— Fans in Willsboro are hoping to be in front of their televisions Sunday night.

That will all depend upon tonight.

Willsboro native Sophie Clarke will appear on the 14th episode of the CBS Television reality series “Survivor,” with only five cast members remaining on the island.

Clarke, who has not received a vote for elimination since the first episode, is joined in the final five on the island by former contestant Benjamin “Coach” Wade, Albert Destrade, Brandon Hantz and Rick Nelson. Former contestant Oscar “Ozzy” Lusth and Edna Ma are still alive in the competition as well through the Redemption Island aspect of the show.

Over the course of the Dec. 14 and Dec. 18 show, the cast will be narrowed down to three, who will have a chance to convince a jury of their peers why they should win the $1 million prize that goes to the victor. The jury is made up of eliminated contestants.

On last week’s episode, author, Willsboro native and Sophie’s father, Thurston, made a cameo on the show.

In an interview earlier, Clarke said that he knew the show was something his daughter had enjoyed and wanted to be a part of.

“Sophie was obsessed with this show for 10 years,” Thurston said. “She was determined to be on it. When she auditioned, she kept it very secret from all of us. We don’t know anything about what happened or where she placed because they all left and came back at the same time.”

Clarke also said that he was in the dark as to what was going to be happening on the show, which may now seem to be a slight misrepresentation.

The Dec. 14 airing is set for local CBS affiliate WCAX for 8 p.m. The Dec. 18 airing is a three-hour season finale with live finals and reunion show, also scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Clarke maintains a Facebook page about the show, and the Valley News will continue to follow her progress on the reality show.
