Artifacts, history details sought

In preparation of the town of Warrensburg’s upcoming bicentennial, town historian Sandi Parisi is seeking information to bolster existing historical accounts of the town. Those who have historic photos, souvenirs, ledgers, programs, diaries, or news articles helpful in her compilation, call her at 623-2207 or leave a message at 623-5153.

The town’s bicentennial is to occur Feb. 12, 2013, and the town is planning a series of events to celebrate.

Quilter to present talk

Renowned quilter Kathy Tennyson of Chestertown is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Chestertown Municipal Center. Her presentation, sponsored by the Chestertown Historical Society, focuses on the history of the Baltimore Quilt Album. Kathy, an award-winning quilter, will have all of her Baltimore Quilts on display and share her stories of the creations.

Garage Sale planners seek help

The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce is holding a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 in the senior citizen building to plan for the 2011 edition of the World’s Largest Garage Sale. Help is needed for the event, setting up vendors in their appropriate spaces — both Friday and Saturday — as well as marking spaces and parking cars. Those who would like to help in any way, contact the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce at 623-2161.

Beer & BBQ & jazz at ski center

Don’t forget the summer barbecue and microbrew sampling event scheduled for Aug. 21 at Hickory Ski Center, off Rte. 418 in Warrensburg.

The event, intended to bring local people together in part to celebrate the ski center’s recent re-opening, is planned for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Jazz music is to be featured. In addition to craft brews, wine will also be available. Admission is only $3. Call the ski center at 623-5754 for details.
