Lake George On Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m., the Lake George Citizens Group will present their chosen candidates in the upcoming elections in a public forum scheduled at Fort William Henry Conference Center, 48 Canada St.
Group spokesperson Joanne Gavin said in a press release that the event was being held to alert town and village voters to the critical issues facing citizens.
“We encourage all voters to get involved in the electoral process,” she said. “They must learn, firsthand, what is taking place in our community.”
The Citizens Group has endorsed Dennis Dickinson, a Republican, for Town Supervisor, and for town council, Dan Hurley, a Democrat, and Marisa Muratori, a Republican. Dickinson ran as a Democrat for the post two years ago, but was defeated by present Supervisor Frank McCoy, a Republican. Since the loss, Dickinson changed his party affiliation.
Gavin said her group believes Dickinson, Hurley and Muratori, if elected, will be catalysts who bring lake George townspeople together with their local government.
The Lake George Citizens Group was formed about three years ago in an effort to raze the buildings on the former Gaslight Village property, and the group is now undertaking an effort to get town citizens more involved in matters of town government, Gavin said.
