The Jeff Wyand Miracle Ride will be held this Sunday, Aug. 21, in memory of the late Jeff Wyand, who succumbed to cancer in December 2006.
Plattsburgh The 11th annual Jeff Wyand Miracle Ride will be held this Sunday, Aug. 21, beginning at the Crete Memorial Civic Center, 4 Beach Road.
The event will begin with registration at 9 a.m., with the motorcycle ride to depart at 11:15 a.m. The approximately 48-mile route will travel onto Margaret Street, continuing on to Broad and Cornelia streets before heading onto Military Turnpike. The ride will continue on to State Route 22, State Route 22B, Sand Road, State Route 3 and State Route 374. The ride will end at American Legion Post 1619, 219 Rand Hill Road, West Plattsburgh, where a barbecue lunch will be held at 1 p.m. Live music by Lucid, a live auction, Chinese auction, classic car display and bounce house for kids will round out the afternoon.
The Jeff Wyand Miracle Ride honors the memory of Jeff Wyand, who passed away in December 2006 at the age of 18. Wyand succumbed to medulloblastoma — a common malignant childhood tumor that affects the central nervous system. Each year, the ride raises funds for Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen in Burlington, Vt.

Donations may be made on the site as well as sponsorships from businesses, which will receive a sign in their name posted on the ride route for donations of $100 or more.
