— Throughout the summer, Ticonderoga’s residents and visitors have had a treat, as close to 40 painted Adirondack Chairs have appeared about the Town. While a majority of them have been inside or in window fronts, some have graced Montcalm Street, Ticonderoga’s historic downtown district.

Now it is time for these artworks to go up for bid, as the project sponsor, the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership, extends an invitation to the community to attend its street-art auction and fundraiser, “Relax in the Adirondacks.” This second annual auction will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Best Western Inn and Suites.

The evening will begin at 5:30 when people can preview all the chairs. The event will kick-off at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, complimentary appetizers and music donated by Nelson Shapiro, a professional musician and music instructor in the Ticonderoga school system. At 7 p.m. an auction will be conducted by Rick Harker, professional auctioneer and owner of Mountain Time Furniture on Montcalm Street. Harker is also donating his services.

According to chairman Bob Dedrick this event would not be possible without the help of the sponsors, artists and local businesses. Sponsors include the Ti Heritage Museum, Deb Malaney, Jay’s Sunoco, Glens Falls National Bank, Burleigh’s Luncheonette, Sandie Bolton, Nancy Kelley, Kiwanis Club, Bill Morse and the Ticonderoga High School, Mary Lou Greenough, Community Bank, Rathbun Jewelers, Ti Arts, Pride of Ticonderoga, Jim Major, Indulge at Roxie’s, Mountain Time Furniture, Ti Area Chamber of Commerce, Pat Ida/ C.P.A., Mountain Lake Services, Best Western Inn & Suites, Dorcey Crammond, LRM Inc./Leslie Midgley, Ticonderoga Golf Corporation, Jill Cunningham, Lake Memories and Ann Lauritsen.

The many artists who donated their time and talent to “Relax in the Adirondacks“ are: Joan Pulling, Marci Hall, Allison Major, Roxie and staff, Eve Grant, Lilith Ida and Claire Burns, manager and staff at Mountain Lake Services, Frances Malaney, Mary Lou Greenough, Dawn House, Deb Malaney, April Lynch, Wendy Ross, Annette Dedrick, Barb Cossey, Kerry Fingland and the 5th grade students at the Ti Elementary School, Britney McCarthy and the high school art students, Maria Beuerlein, Alex Joiner, Jen Childress, Vicki Sperry, Megan Cunningham and Jayna McLoughlin.

TMSP volunteers will pick up all the chairs on the afternoon of Aug. 25 between the hours of 1-4 p.m.

“TMSP would sincerely like to thank sponsors and artists and invite all the them, plus friends and the community, to turn out for this unique event,” Dedrick said. “All auction proceeds will go to the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership for downtown streetscape improvements. The funds raised last year are currently being used to relight the Liberty Monument and paint the crosswalks.”

TMSP is a tax deductible, non-profit 501c3 charitable organization.
