Schroon man to head Word of Life Fellowship

— A Schroon Lake man will become the next Executive Director of the worldwide ministries of Word of Life Fellowship.

Donald H. Lough, Jr. will be installed during a ceremony Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Jack Wyrtzen Center on the campus of Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville.

Lough brings more than 20 years of experience and service in the ministry. He follows founders, Jack Wyrtzen and Harry Bollback, former Executive Director George Theis and current Executive Director Joe Jordan.

Lough is a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute in 1984 and of Cedarville University where he received a bachelor of arts degree in 1987. In 1992 he graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary where he received a master of theology degree.

A local resident who grew up in Schroon Lake, Lough is well known in the community. Though he has traveled to more than 60 countries as part of his ministerial responsibilities, he enjoys spending time with friends and neighbors and is also a member at Mountainside Bible Chapel in Schroon Lake.

His ministry with Word of Life Fellowship began as a young man working in the camps and conference programs and after graduating from seminary, he became the Assistant to Paul Bubar, director of Word of Life’s International Ministries, in 1992. Five years later he became the vice president of International Ministries where he served from 1997 to 2006. For the past five years, Lough has served as director of Word of Life Fellowship.

Lough and his wife, Darla, reside in Schroon Lake and have four children Alyssa, Jonathan, Justin and Ashlyn.

Word of Life Fellowship is a Biblically-based, non-denominational organization active in 63 countries through Christian Camping and Conference Centers, Local Church Ministries, Bible Institutes and Gospel Productions.
