Essex County Sheriff releases monthly figures

— The following is a summary of the activities of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office for the past month.

$102,808 in revenue was generated by the jail, contributing to a year-to-date total of $810,900.

The average inmate count level was 72.4, with a high of 79 and low of 65. The federal inmate count average was 31.1, with a high of 35 and low of 31.

The other county inmate boarder average was 1.8, with a high of five and a low of zero.

There were 66 bookings and 55 releases. This is a statistic that is newly kept track of. Each new inmate admitted to the facility requires a computerized booking, fingerprinting, photograph, search and change of clothing. Typically, it takes about one hour to book and process an inmate and about half an hour to release one.

There were 45 inmate transports, for a total of 2,976 miles, 427 of which were reimbursed by the U.S. Marshals.

There were 10 arrests.

There were 79 uniform tickets issues and two accidents investigated.

There were 23 documents served.

The office handled $106,167 in civil monies, gaining $4,541 in revenue.

There were 15 individual and 45 group sessions at St. Joseph’s Rehab.

There were 12 public health education sessions focused on HIV/AIDS and STDs.
