Ted Zoli will speak at Camp Dudley on Aug. 21.

—  A former camper at Camp Dudley YMCA in Westport will return Aug. 21 to talk about his latest project in the North Country.

Ted Zoli, who is the designer for the Champlain Bridge, will speak in the Witherbee Auditorium at Camp Dudley on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m., as the guest speaker for the fifth annual Author Address, put on as a fundraiser for Literacy Volunteers of Essex/Franklin Counties.

Literacy Volunteers Executive Director Maria Burke said that while Zoli is not an author, they felt he was the perfect fit for the annual discussion given the local impact his work has.

“He is not an author, but this was a chance to have him come and speak that we could not pass up,” Burke said. “This is a historical event for the region, and Ted is also an alumni of Camp Dudley, which will be holding their alumni weekend at the same time, with this being the final event.”

Zoli is a 2009 recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” award and has built bridges all over the world, focusing on beauty and strength.

Zoli plans to speak on the colorful history and construction of this vital link of Lake Champlain infrastructure.

Tickets will be $15 per person and $25 per couple. For more information, contact Literacy Volunteers at 546-3008 or email Burke at director@literacyef.com.
