Teens charged in connection with Lake Placid burglary

Two teens from Lake Placid were sent to county lock-up last week for their involvement in a burglary at a local business.

Lake Placid Village Police arrested a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male the evening of April 20 in connection with a burglary at a Lake Placid business. Their names have been withheld due to potential youthful offender status.

Police say both subjects broke in to an unidentified local business and stole several items. Additionally, the 17-year-old was caught with burglary tools.

While being processed for the alleged burglary, both teens were caught with an unspecified amount of marijuana.

Both teens were charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree conspiracy, petit larceny, and unlawful possession of marijuana. The 17-year-old subject was hit with additional charges of third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.

The teens were arraigned in Lake Placid Village Court before Justice Margaret Doran and subsequently remanded to Essex County Jail.

They're scheduled to reappear at a later date.
