Springsteen returns to The Indian Lake Theater

INDIAN LAKE-In the wake of Bruce Springteen's virtual visit to Indian lake Theater last year with the presentation of London Calling: Live in Hyde Park on the big screen, he will return Sunday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. with a viewing of The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Egde of Town.

The film, by Thom Zimny is set to screen theatrically across the country and received international acclaim at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, The British Film Institute's London Film Festival and the Rome International Film Festival.

"This uniquely insightful film will have a limited theatrical run at community based not-for-profit specialty cinemas, performing arts centers and independent art-houses as a benefit screening and fundraiser," said Patricia Connor, Indian Lake Theater director.

The Columbia Records/Sony Music documentary is distributed by Emerging Pictures through their nationwide network of cinemas utilizing digital distribution and projection, Emerging Cinemas.

Emerging Pictures struck a deal with Indian Lake Theater last year to include them in the tradition of providing fans the opportunity to see national and international films at their local theaters.

As part of the program, theatres with 501-(c)(3) non-profit status will retain 100% of box-office receipts, while for-profit venues will keep 50%, donating the remaining funds to a charity of the their choice. All benefit screenings will take place between April 22 and May 3, when The Promise will become available to purchase.

Zimny boasts Grammy and Emmy Awards for his films including The Promise, which premiered to the public with a limited HBO engagement in October 2010.

The ninety-minute documentary combines never-before-seen footage of Springsteen and the E Street Band shot between 1976 and 1978, including home rehearsals and studio sessions with new interviews with Springsteen, E Street Band members, manager Jon Landau, former-manager Mike Appel and others closely involved in the making of the record.
