Richard Mihlard receives golf award

RUTLAND-Richard H. Mihlrad, of Wells, and past president of the Vermont Golf Association, received the First Tee 2011 National School Program Involvement Award.

The award recognizes special individuals who exemplify The First Tee Nine Core Values and demonstrate their commitment and dedication to extending the reach of the National School Program into their community.

"Through the Vermont First Tee National School Program Initiative, we have the opportunity to teach more than 14,000 Vermont elementary school children life skills and The First Tee's Nine Core Values while introducing them to the game of golf," Mihlrad said.

The First Tee National School Program is an initiative of the World Golf Foundation, based in St. Augustine, Fla.
