House fire suspected to be arson

TICONDEROGA - The two-story vacant house at 107 Lord Howe St. was nearly completely destroyed by a suspicious fire April 20. There were no injuries. Flames were first spotted coming from the house at 12:42 a.m. Town firefighters, helped by others from Hague, Putnam, Schroon Lake and Crown Point, didn't leave the scene until 4 a.m. The tax assessment on the building, owned by J. Slack of Ceres, Calif., was $71,400 this year. In 2007, Ticonderoga saw a number of suspicious fires of vacant houses, including one nearby this most recent blaze, at 85 Lord Howe St.
