The festival featured four performance groups - elementary chorus, junior band, percussion ensemble and senior band - from Schroon Lake, Warrensburg, North Warren, Johnsburg, Minerva, Newcomb, Indian Lake and Long Lake schools. Schroon Lake had students participate in every group.
Representing Schroon Lake in the elementary chorus were Megan Wilson, Cheyenne Parker, Madigan Scoville, Lidia Vickery, Grace Higgens, Alora Bearor, TJ Garcia, Cody Nolan, Barry Wilson, Harrison Gereau, Alysen Bruce, Abi Belrose, Noah Armstrong and Micka Stout.
Michael Murdock, Brandon Dugan, Ian Lowe, Shannon Garland and Clare Whitney of Schroon Lake performed with the junior band, percussion ensemble and senior band.
"Leading up to the festival, our students rehearsed after school, during lunches and during free periods in order to prepare their music," said Banewicz. "Some of these rehearsals were scheduled by the students themselves and were run independently from the music teachers."
After weeks of preparation, students traveled to Warrensburg Elementary School March 5 to join with selected students from other schools. Rehearsals began at 9 a.m. and continued until a 3 p.m. concert.
"Please congratulate these talented students for their hard work and accomplishments at the CASMA Spring Music Festival," Banewicz said.
