SCHROONLAKE-Music students at Schroon Lake Central School are getting some help.
The Youth Music Association of Schroon Lake has formed to assist with the school's music program.
"We are a group of parents, teachers and community members who want every student who desires it to take part in the Schroon Lake Central School music program," explained Charlene Kostka. "Our mission is to provide financial support to supplement the school budget and to assist during performances, fundraising and other related events.
"The SLCS band is growing in size and is in great need of instruments and chairs for use during band practice and performance," she said.
The Youth Music Association of Schroon Lake held a bake and tag sale April 23 at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club on Hoffman Road, raising $425 the SLCS band program.
"We had a huge amount of donated items and baked goods," Kostka said. "The baked goods flew out of the sale table and we still have a lot of items to sell in the future."
Kostka noted the contrinutions of Linda and Ian Lowe; Jane Bouchard; Amy, Tom and Sara Garcia; Ann, Peter and Abby Veverka; Tim Botterbusch; Jane and Bob Claus; Rebecca and Jared Doyle; Terri Bearor; Mary, Harrison and Malena Gereau; Ed and Brenda Donley; Dave and Michael Murdock; and Tracy Hanchett in making the sale a success.
The band program is under the direction of Michael Banewicz.
"Anyone who would like to join our organization will be welcomed," Kostka said. "If anyone has a band instrument that they would like to donate for our band, it would be greatly appreciated."
Interested people can contact Kostka at 532-9415.
