A Saranac Lake woman was taken into custody yesterday after attempting to divert officers by calling in a fake report.
According to reports, Saranac Lake Village Police stopped 25-year-old Brittany Greathead for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
In the process, Greathead allegedly called the police department to report a violent domestic dispute on the other side of town. Several police units responded to that location, but discovered that the report was unfounded.
Greathead was subsequently arrested in the parking lot of the Fusion Market on River Street. During the arrest, police discovered she was in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
In all, she was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, third-degree falsely reporting an incident, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Greathead was processed at the police department, arraigned in Saranac Lake Village Court, and released after posting $200 cash bail. She's scheduled to reappear at a later date.
