Ray Brook accident leads to injuries, tickets

A three-car motor vehicle accident resulted in minor injuries over the weekend.

Ray Brook-based state police say the accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the town of North Elba.

Troopers say two motorists - 34-year-old Hiram L. Oliveras of Saranac Lake and 63-year-old Julia M. Lamora of Lake Placid - were stopped on state Route 86 in front of the Tail O' the Pup restaurant, waiting for another vehicle to turn left.

That's when 79-year-old Veronica L. Finegan of Saranac Lake failed to brake and rear-ended Oliveras. The impact caused Oliveras' vehicle to collide with Lamora's vehicle.

Both Oliveras and Lamora had to be taken to the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, where they were treated for head pain and whiplash and released.

Police say Finegan was treated at the scene for injuries caused by her airbag.

She was subsequently ticketed for following too closely.
