BLACKBROOK - The government in Black Brook declared a state of emergency April 12 after snowmelt flooded onto the roads, leaving a number without shoulders and sections of pavement. The Ausable River was a foot over flood stage following a night of heavy rainfall and a day which saw temperatures pushed into the 70s.
Bonnieview, Forest Dale and Strackville roads endured the worst damage, but Guide Board, Union Falls, and Nelson roads were damaged as well.
Bonnieview Road, which had been closed by 1 p.m., was open again at 4 p.m. A proclamation of local state emergency urged travelers to exercise extreme caution within the town limits. Local officials have not yet estimated how much it will cost to fix the damage.
